Is Sex Addiction Real?
This article begins by acknowledging that the signs of ‘sex addiction’ are all around us; politicians and celebrities sacrificing their careers and families for sex and everyday people failing to remain faithful to their partners.
The idea that sex addiction is a real condition is up for debate. Addicted people, for example alcoholics, display physical changes to their brain structure. This explains why quitting is so very difficult even when their addiction has serious consequences in their lives. In a recent UCLA study so called ‘sex addicts’ did not display the brain changes linked to addiction so it gives real evidence to doubt that sex addiction is an actual disorder.
