Sarah Dignan

Sarah Dignan Counsellor

I offer counselling to individual adults within my private practice, offering sessions both face-to-face at The Affinity Centre and online.

My Philosophy

I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth, healing and positive change.

Our past experiences can shape how we see ourselves, others and the world around us. By exploring these experiences, we can begin to understand ourselves more clearly and consider whether old and familiar patterns are still helpful, or whether something needs to change.

Life can bring challenges that feel overwhelming at times, and it's not always easy to make sense of things on your own. Having a safe, caring space where you feel truly heard and understood can be incredibly valuable.

With the right support, it's possible to develop greater self-awareness and move towards a way of living that feels more balanced and authentic.

My Approach

I work integratively, with a strong foundation in Person-Centred Therapy. This means that I offer a warm, supportive and non-directive space where you can talk openly and explore your thoughts and feelings. I won't tell you what to do, but I will work alongside you, helping you to find your own answers.

I may draw on other approaches where helpful, for example elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help you understand patterns in your thinking and behaviour, introduce ideas around self-compassion to support you in developing a kinder relationship with yourself and relaxation techniques to help anxiety and overwhelm.

Our work together will focus on you as the expert in your own life. Each session will be your space to bring whatever feels important - whether that's managing anxiety, building self-belief, or making sense of difficult feelings.

I want you to feel valued, respected and understood as you become empowered on your journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

My Motivation

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over 20 years working in the corporate sector. During that time I developed a strong awareness of the pressures people face in both their working and personal lives.

Retraining was a significant and positive step for me as I now do work that feels meaningful and aligned with my values. I genuinely value the time I spend with each client and feel privileged to support them through difficult times.
