Imago Clinical SkillsDays 3 to 12

Ten days of advanced couples therapy training, delivered in two blocks of five. This is where you move from knowing Imago to doing it: with real complexity, real feedback, and live supervision of your own couple cases.

  • 10 training days across 2 blocks
  • Prerequisite: Imago Foundations
  • Online or face-to-face
  • Completes the taught training required for certification

From Foundations to certification standard

Clinical Skills follows on from Imago Foundations and takes you through the full range of Imago processes to certification standard. You book both five-day blocks together as one commitment, and by the end of the ten days you will have completed all 12 taught training days required before entering the certification process.

Prerequisite: you must have completed the Imago Foundations course before attending Clinical Skills.

A modality practised worldwide, taught here through daily practice

Imago Relationship Therapy has been practised internationally for decades, with a defined curriculum, international oversight, and a recognised certification process. What distinguishes this training is not only the modality itself, but the way it is taught: through repeated, supervised, supported practice.

Theory alone does not prepare you for high conflict, shutdown, ruptures in trust, or the moments when you need to know what to do next in the room. Daily practice helps the method become something you can actually use with couples, rather than something you are still trying to work out live.

What you will learn

Clinical Skills is delivered in two five-day blocks. The first deepens the foundations; the second takes you into more advanced processes, difficult presentations, and live supervision.

Block 1

Days 3 to 7

Deepening the method

  • Deepening and extending the Imago Dialogue Process.
  • Holding a couple in dialogue through resistance and difficulty.
  • Working with the Couples Dialogue across a full session structure.
  • Understanding relationship patterns through Imago theory.
  • Introducing the Behaviour Change Request process.
  • Daily practice in triads with peer and trainer feedback.

Block 2

Days 8 to 12

Working with complexity

  • Advanced Imago processes and interventions.
  • Working with high-conflict couples and entrenched patterns.
  • Supporting couples through affairs and ruptures in trust.
  • Working with anger safely and effectively in the therapy room.
  • Live supervision of your own couple cases.
  • Consolidating your clinical identity as an Imago Relationship Therapist.

Outcome

By the end

Where this training takes you

By the end of all ten days, you will have worked through the full range of core Imago processes many times, with feedback, repetition, and supervision built in.

That repetition is what helps the approach feel grounded and usable in real sessions with your own couples.

What you need to attend

You must have completed the Imago Foundations course before booking Clinical Skills.

You do not need to already be seeing couples in your practice, although some participants will be. The key requirement is that you have completed the first two days and are ready to continue into the advanced stage of the pathway.

A training that reflects the diversity of your clients

The couples you work with will come from different backgrounds, cultures, identities, and relationship structures. Some will be neurodivergent, and some will be navigating forms of complexity that standard training texts do not address well. Clinical Skills works with that reality rather than around it.

The training aims to help you notice and honour the complexity each couple brings, while also making space for therapists from different backgrounds to learn as their whole selves.

We actively welcome

  • Neurodivergent therapists.
  • Therapists from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds.
  • Therapists of all sexualities, gender identities, and relationship perspectives.

Online or in person

The training is offered in two formats with the same trainers and core content.

How format choice works

  • You choose one format when you book and stay with that cohort for all ten days.
  • You cannot move between formats once Clinical Skills begins.
  • You can attend Foundations in either format and choose Clinical Skills format separately.
