Do You Resist When Anyone Asks or Tells You To Do Something?
I wonder what your immediate response is to this question from Gretchen Reubin of ‘The Happiness Project’. Gretchen has developed an idea called the Four Tendencies Framework while writing about how we can change our habits. She encourages us to think about how we respond to expectations. These include our outer expectations (such as meeting deadlines, requests from loved ones or even following the rules of the road) and also our inner expectations; those we impose on ourselves such as getting the christmas shopping done in plenty of time this year would be a good example (one year I will actually achieve it!). The four tendencies framework defines how we actually respond to those expectations. Why not take a look at her article to see if you fit into the tendency of an upholder, a questioner, an obliger, or a rebel.
