Rachael works with adult individuals and couples. Believing that you are unique, Rachael takes the view that no single approach is effective for every client in all situations and so adopts an integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy enabling her to work with the whole person.
My starting point is the belief that you already have the answers and solutions within your own system – and it’s my job to help you reveal them and work with you to get the changes that you are looking for. I appreciate that you might not think you have the answers yet….
I often work using NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), however I will tailor the approach I use depending upon what I think is going to be most effective for you as an individual or couple. I don’t believe that one size fits all and that any one model of therapy is the complete answer.
You are very much in charge, from initiating to concluding the therapy and you are the expert on you! NLP is a very practical approach to self-exploration which enables us to get results together, moving away from what you don’t want and towards what you do.
Other models that I will draw from include Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the Imago Relationship Therapy (this isn’t an exclusive list).
Our initial session will be outcome focused to understand very specifically what's going on and what you want to change and then I tailor my approach to your unique needs. I will give you tasks to do in between sessions if I think it will get you to where you want to be faster, though I understand that in our busy lives, we don’t want too much homework!
My clients regularly feedback that they enjoy the process of learning about themselves and making long lasting changes that they perhaps didn’t think were possible in the beginning.
My colleagues say that they hear a lot of laughing from my room!
Who I Work With
Adult Individuals and Couples
I enjoy working with individuals and couples on a whole range of different types of issues and range of complexity: anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, trauma, sexual, relationship difficulties, communication breakdowns, affairs, managing conflict and more.
I truly believe that working as a therapist is a privilege and I absolutely love what I do.
From a very young age, I have always been naturally curious about people and what makes us all so different and how we are capable of changing and evolving.
I get a lot of pleasure from working with people to help them realise their outcomes, whatever that might be, whether that is moving away from poor mental health, specific issues or towards a more fulfilling and better relationship. I love being part of that process and having fun along the way as we explore a different path.
My psychotherapy experience has been gained through interactive face-to-face training, extensive client practice with individuals and couples, personal psychotherapy and supported with monthly supervision. I abide by a strict ethical code of practice as set out by my accrediting body (NLPtCA).
