I am a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Registered Member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
My belief is that everyone has the potential capacity to change their life in meaningful ways when provided with the right conditions for personal growth. A bit like a plant needs water, nutrients and light!
I believe in human courage and motivation within to become the best version of yourself you can possibly be; with this in mind, I bring warmth, support, empathy and compassion to create a non-judgemental, safe, supportive therapeutic relationship in which to explore what is going on for you.
I am an Integrative, Humanistic Counsellor which means I practice in a person-centred way, but also draw on other theoretical approaches, such as Psychodynamic, Compassion Focused Therapy, Gestalt, Inner-Child work and Mindfulness.
This enables me to tailor therapy to meet your needs and help you make sense of why you feel the way you do to facilitate movement towards enhanced emotional wellbeing and more effective personal choices.
I aspire to accept you, your thoughts, experiences and feelings and work alongside you to help you gain a deeper understanding of why you are not coping too well at the moment. Empowering you to seek solutions, reframe thinking, gain perspective and work towards greater fulfilment. I welcome you to come just as you are.
People are individuals who have had life experiences often beyond their control that have shaped them in unique ways. None of us chose our genetic make-up, or the environment we grew up in, which can affect the beliefs we hold about ourselves and have an impact on driving distress.
Reaching out for support takes tremendous courage and a commitment to invest in yourself to work towards the positive changes you want to make in your life. Keeping it together can be challenging at times.
No one is immune to the difficulties life throws our way. My motivation to support you as a therapist comes from my genuine interest in you and your life experiences.
I appreciate the deep connections made with my clients together with the humbling privilege of sharing what it means to be human in a therapeutic relationship.
