When you have a strong fear of something, a phobia or intense anxiety, the idea of facing your fear may perhaps make you feel even worse. This of course, could be enough to hold you back from trying to overcome it. Paul Dooley of the ‘Anxiety Guru’ talks about this issue in his latest blog. He emphasises that when exposure is used to extinguish fears it should be done gradually. Of course the down-side to this is that it will take time! If you have complex problems that lead to anxiety then facing those anxieties will take time, patience and hard work, but he emphasises you will get there in the end and reap the rewards!
