Bouncing Back: Coping With The Unexpected

In this blog post Dr. Pauline Wallin describes several different ways in which we can increase our resilience to unexpected events.  Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity and deal with those life events that pop up from nowhere and can put us in a bit of a spin.  Good examples of such events are illness in the family, loss of a job or relationship breakdown (though I guess you probably had some inkling that was coming).

Wallin breaks suggestions down into areas of thinking, feeling and behaviour.  Her suggestions are sensible and achievable.  Give it a read if you are interested in building your resilience and let me know what you thought.
