Seeking counselling is a big step, and a rewarding one. It is an opportunity to take the time and attention to focus on our inner world, goals, and challenges. Therapy can provide the time and space to explore thoughts and feelings, and to work towards growth and change. We will work in a partnership, and I will work with you to actively make change in your life – working on thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that may hold you back or cause you discomfort or distress. I work in an integrative manner, meaning that I draw from several psychotherapeutic disciplines in order to create an approach that is uniquely tailored to you and your needs. I work with clients in an active manner to gain insights in into themselves and their behaviour, and to make lasting change.
I also provide support to parents with parenting concerns. Parenting is incredibly rewarding, and can also be very challenging. Sometimes it can be helpful to have someone to help you respond to the challenges inherent in parenting, and to help you to enhance your parent-child relationship. I have worked with parents of children from all age groups, from toddler and pre-school age through to teenagers. I can provide support and concrete steps to follow in dealing with any number of parenting issues.
I currently see clients privately at The Affinity Centre in Wilmslow, offering individual, couples’, family, adolescent, and child therapy. I also see clients online globally through Overseas Counselling and Psychotherapy Service a resource which provides counselling and psychotherapy for expatriates in countries all over the world.
My training has included: cognitive-behavioural therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, solution-focussed therapy, constructivist psychotherapy, family therapies, and play and creative arts therapy. I draw on these therapies in an integrative manner in order to best meet the needs of individual clients. I work with clients in a way that finds and uses their unique strengths in order to make lasting change.
Who I work with
I provide support with a number of issues including: family of origin issues, relationship issues, depression / low mood, anxiety, parenting, bereavement, and many other unique circumstances. I also have a special interest in expatriates and expatriate issues.
I work with individuals, couples, families, and children. I have additional training in play and creative arts therapies and can work with children from the age of 3.
I am motivated by a strong belief in the power of people to change and to live better, happier lives with strong relationships. I have personally and professionally seen the power of counselling and psychotherapy, and derive great satisfaction out of helping people to improve their lives and relationships. I enjoy the creativity and intellectual stimulation that is a part of this work. I enjoy helping others to make the most of their lives and remove barriers to living their lives to the fullest.
