Most people suffer some form of emotional distress or loss at some point in their lives. Counselling can offer people a safe and confidential space within which to think, feel and explore whatever difficulties they may be facing. It can allow people to gain understanding, insight and perspective, opening avenues for positive change.
Children and young people can benefit from having a neutral person to talk to about their feelings and concerns. Counselling can help them to build and develop strategies to cope with difficult or distressing situations.
I use an integrative model of counselling drawing on disciplines which best suit clients and their issues. Therapies offered include Person Centred, Existential, Psychodynamic, Play and Creative therapies.
I offer you:
A friendly and down to earth approach which is tailored to your needs
An opportunity to talk in a safe and confidential space
Someone to listen without judgement and who will treat you respectfully
An opportunity to explore your thinking, emotions and behaviour and ways of relating to others
The opportunity for change if you want it
Both support and challenge where appropriate
An approach which embraces the wide spans of social diversity and difference

Facing and following bereavement
I am an experienced and trained bereavement counsellor supporting children and families who are either facing a serious illness in their lives or who have been bereaved. Children and young people can often feel more comfortable in the familiar surroundings of their school and many schools are happy to accommodate appointments during their school day.
Where appropriate, advice and support will be given to parents, carers and relatives that helps them to support their children.
Children over 14 also have the option of being seen at The Affinity Centre in Wilmslow.
Fees for all bereavement work as above.
Some additional areas of my experience include:
Cancer and other life limiting illnesses
School and work
Separation and divorce
I am endlessly fascinated by the nature of the human condition and the challenging dynamics of life. I am endlessly humbled by people’s ability to come through very tough life experiences and their capacity for resilience. I am driven by the experience of walking alongside someone both in their suffering and in their peace.
I believe therapy does offer us a unique opportunity to take time, to make sense of life, and to help us understand who we are and I enjoy building relationships and watching those processes unfold. I am motivated by the importance of pain, the power of new insights and the possibility of change.
I am very drawn to the fact that, whilst therapy can be quite scary for some, it can also be a very nurturing, empowering and enriching experience and can really make a difference for anyone who chooses to engage and give it a go.
